New Government spending data and the AGO

19 November 2010

Minister for Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, today released detailed Government spending data, allowing the public to see for the first time how Government spends its money and hold politicians to account.

Today, as part of the ongoing drive to make government more accountable, efficient and transparent than ever before, all departments will publish details of their spending over £25,000 for the last six months. A portal for transparency has been created on data.gov.uk, giving the public and developers easy access to data from all levels of government.

The data for the Attorney General's Office and Her Majesty's Crown Prosecution Inspectorate is displayed on the Treasury Solicitor's Department website (as the Treasury Solicitor is Accounting Officer for these departments), initially for the period May to September, and further information will be added on a monthly basis.

The Crown Prosecution Service and Serious Fraud Office will display their data separately.
